Upgrade for Sateon access control systems to new Janus C4
Legacy Janus and Sateon v2.x systems running EZ & IDC hardware only
Sateon v2.x system installers will continue to receive free support for the remaining life of the product. With no further development
of the product, no new licences will be issued for these systems, and we have now closed all migration opportunities to move these
systems to the 3.x version and migration is no longer available for these hardware products. Our migration tool can still export
database information for continued use, but you will no longer be able to migrate legacy hardware to a 3.x system. We have limited
stock of legacy hardware available, and this will be sold on a first come, first serve basis; when it’s gone, it’s gone.
You are free to continue using a Sateon v2.x system for as long as is needed, but please bear in mind the parameters for sales and
support as stated above.
If you wish to continue using a Grosvenor system for your access control, you will need to replace all legacy hardware for our newer
Janus C4 platform. Our migration tool can be used to capture database information that can be re-imported into a Janus C4 system,
but the legacy hardware cannot be migrated, therefore will need to be replaced with Janus C4 Advance hardware. Please speak to
your account manager for pricing.
SSAs currently in place will continue to be honoured. Should your SSA expire before the end-of-life date (30th April 2023) you may
purchase a further SSA on a pro-rata basis until the end-of-life date. For example, should your current SSA finish in September 2022,
we will offer you a pro-rata SSA for the remaining 7-months and support will continue to be offered up to the end-of-life date.
Sateon Advance v3.x systems running a mix of IDC, EZ and Advance hardware
Sateon Advance v3.x is considered a mature system.
Its use of Silverlight alongside Internet Explorer has been designated end-of life by Microsoft.
As such, no new licences are being offered for Sateon Advance and development of this system has also been
halted.
Sateon Advance v3.x systems may still be expanded, and we continue to supply Sateon Advance hardware for this system.
In the event of a failure of EZ or IDC hardware, the recommendation will be to replace this with Sateon Advance hardware for
continued operation of the system.
SSAs will remain in place for end user support and will continue to be offered for the remaining lifecycle of this product. We expect
to bring Sateon Advance to end-of-life some time in 2024/25 so you will still have several more years of continued support and
hardware availability.
The current Sateon Advance Hardware (‘C2’ controllers) can be upgraded to a Janus C4 instance when the time is right for you.
Please be aware that there is an older version of Sateon Advance hardware that is incompatible with Janus C4 (‘C’ controllers) and
must be replaced with the ‘C2’ version should you wish to migrate to Janus C4 later. We no longer supply the ‘C’ version so all new
purchases will be of the ‘C2’ version. We recommend replacing ‘C’ controllers for ‘C2’ within the Sateon Advance environment, then
migrate to Janus C4 at the appropriate time.
This makes for a much smoother transition to Janus C4
